The year 2014 marked a major turning point in the real estate market for Overland Park and Johnson
County Kansas. For the first time since the housing market crashed in 2007 we saw consistent home price appreciation in resale homes and a sizable increase in new home construction. However, something was still missing.
So what was missing? First time homebuyers. First time homebuyers normally make up 33 to 35% of all home purchases. In 2014 we saw that number drop to a historicall low 26%.
This blog is the first in a series exploring why first time buyers are not purchasing homes and what can be done to reverse this trend and help make purchasing that first home possible.
